Our PastLiberty Baptist Church began as the result of the vision of a small church in Arkansas. They acted upon their belief in the scriptural injunction to "Go into all the world and preach the gospel." With very limited resources, but the firm conviction to do God's will, they endorsed Brother Jackie Battles to establish a New Testament Church in the Stephens City, Virginia area. He and his family arrived on the "field" in July of 1986. Since no suitable building was available for rent, the first meetings were held in the pastor's home. The church continued to meet there until another facility (the basement of the "old post office in Stephens City) was located a year later in September, 1987. Liberty purchased 6.5 acres of property on highway 277, about 2-1/2 miles east of Stephens City. In April 1993, we moved into a new building on this property. Our PresentBeginning with the nucleus of Pastor Battles and his family of five, Liberty has grown to an average attendance of about 100. God has given us a beautiful new meeting facility located at 1400 Fairfax Pike. Our new building will seat about 200 people very comfortably with additional land to expand when needed. Our Sunday School classes are for ages 3 to adult, thus providing a well-rounded approach for training the whole family. These classes are taught by devoted, caring, teachers who are motivated by a desire for the student to develop a closer relationship with God. We have an active visitation program in which we have gone door to door in an attempt to visit every home in our community. Over the last several years we have knocked on virtually every door in Stephens City, Middletown, Boyce, and White Post. We have also covered parts of Winchester, Front Royal, and Berryville. Our FutureLiberty Baptist Church plans to continue meeting at her present location and ever expanding her ministries to meet the needs of the people until the Lord comes. Our goal is to reach every family with the Good News of Christ the Redeemer. We plan to be active in helping to keep our schools, businesses and families on a sure Biblical footing. It is our desire to build a solid foundation for successful Christian living. In the near future our dream is to extend our ministries beyond our community by sending out missionaries into other parts of our country and into foreign countries. Christ said the fields were white unto harvest - -our desire is to "harvest" these fields. It is our prayer that you will join us in this gospel-centered work. |
